Total anti-HAV testing is used primarily to determine exposure to HAV either naturally or as a result of vaccination.

This antibody is found in both acute and chronic hepatitis B patients. It is also an indicator of past infection. Anti-HBc may be the only indication of an existing hepatitis B viral infection.

Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) is the major cause of hepatitis. The presence of anti-HCV indicates that a person may have been infected with HCV and might be capable of transmitting HCV infection.

Magnesium levels are increased in chronic or acute renal failure and in Addison’s Disease. Decreases are observed in acute pancreatitis, alcoholic cirrhosis, and chronic nephritis.

Centromere antibody is useful for evaluating patients with clinical signs and symptoms compatible with systemic sclerosis including skin involvement, Raynaud phenomenon, and arthralgias.

The diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is confirmed by significant elevations in dsDNA autoantibody.

Increased levels are found in the presence of tissue necrosis. Decreased levels are associated with infectious mononucleosis and hemolytic diseases.

The presence of HBSAb indicates clinical recovery from acute or chronic HBV infection, or acquired immunity from HBV vaccination. Its presence is used to monitor immune status following administration of Hepatitis B vaccine.

Elevations of IgG, IgA, and/or IgM are seen in hpergammaglobulinemia, chronic inflammatory conditions, and in lymphoproliferative diseases. Decreased levels are associated with hypogammaglobulinemia and immunodeficiency states.
