G-6-PDH deficiency causes hemolytic anemia. In newborns the deficiency can cause prolonged neonatal jaundice.
*Fasting Specimen is preferred. Blood should be drawn in the morning after an overnight fast (no caloric intake for at least eight hours), during which time you may consume water.
